Transience, 2016

Three-channel video installation

Transience is a three-channel video installation composed of imagery from digitally manipulated landscapes, environmental details, sound and spoken word.  The work explores the changing relationship we have with our lived world through memory and time.  Because of globalisation our awareness of space and time is changing, contracting and expanding, as our daily lives become increasingly transient.  We engage and disengage with our surrounding environment, tuning in and tuning out. We create memories from key moments, as we engage and disengage with our environment, forgotten moments lost. We exist within a continuum, with moments of focus and clarity. Transience questions our ability to understand the scale of environmental change within the contrasts between deep-time, our daily lives and ourselves, as it alludes to the changing ecosystem of the world.
