Light and sound installation
Aluminum profiles, LED, cables, speaker, stand, amplifier, computer.
Remains acts as a representative of the digital and physical. Aluminium profiles comprise a frame on which a matrix grid of LED bulbs are attached. The bulbs flow and pulse; created from a non-repeating algorithm, they are the result of continual thinking. The patterns created by the individual LED nodes working in harmony, create uncanny relationships between what we see and what we think we see. Laid horizontal with a visual energy, the skeletal form exists as a real junction between our physical and digital worlds, raising questions about our relationship to technology, space and the structures that our digital selves are housed in; data centres, servers, aluminium racks. A speaker sitting on a stand, plays the sound of a ceiling fan, through emulation of an industrial mechanism, the speaker actively dispels air, the digital has become physical. The fan highlights the physical presence our digital traces leave behind and the cooling needed for our contemporary world to exist within both digital and physical landscapes. The visual and the auditory work in tandem to map the blurring relationship between the digital, physical, the real and the virtual.
