Liberation Through Hearing During the Intermediate State, 2020

Old Operating Theatre, London

Liberation Through Hearing During the Intermediate State explores the liminal state of existence intermediate between two lives on earth. It questions to what this physical structure might be in a digital world. Furthermore, it suggests that our digital avatars can and will have a physicality that could be stuck in a continual loop of degradation and rebirth.

Furthermore, as our physical structures decay our digital imprint will be seemingly immortal.

As technology becomes ever present in our lives and the line between the physical and the digital continues to blur, as our societies strive for the perfect physical human form, this work asks the question, is this idealised state only possible through continuing that journey into the digital sphere or is the digital sphere just a semblance of a false dawn?

Comprised of a digitally manipulated 3D scan the work treads the line between a mathematical computer aided drawing and a physical painting.
